    Automatic Low Light Camera Mode

    Platforms: Controllers/X10, Dock for X10

X10 Drones now automatically toggle on Low Light mode at dusk, based on local sunset time.

    • Low Light mode is automatically enabled Pre-Flight for any takeoff between civil dusk and civil dawn (sun 6° or more below the horizon).
    • Recording mode does not change while the drone is flying, so a flight that begins before dusk is not interrupted.
    • Pilots can still set the camera mode manually at any time from the camera settings.
    • On any subsequent flight Pre-Flight where the camera is in Low Light mode and takeoff is during the day (civil dawn to civil dusk), the camera switches to Standard mode.

Note: Automatic switching requires a GPS fix. A drone flying without GPS keeps whichever camera mode it already has.

Improved Marker Visibility on Controllers Platforms: Controllers/X10, R10 Draper introduces several improvements to expand marker visibility on controllers. Pilots can now view, filter, and sort custom markers and personnel displayed on the map, and view important details from the controller.

    • View custom markers (such as those created from in-flight image capture) and personnel (e.g., body cameras) directly on the map and in dedicated lists, making it easier to track activity and coordinate in real time
    • Sort and filter custom markers and personnel by priority to access information faster
    • Tap on an incident to display additional details such as Incident ID and priority and highlight its location on the map

Personalized Marker Visibility Marker visibility now persists between sessions, and pilots can save preferred views directly tied to their user account.

    • Pilots can configure map settings to show or hide incidents, custom Markers, or personnel to reduce on-screen clutter
    • Hiding a layer removes icons from the map, but they remain visible in the full Incidents list

ShotSpotter Gunshot Detection Pilots can now view ShotSpotter incidents directly on the controller, improving situational awareness and allowing pilots to view event details and respond faster while they are in the field.

    • The Incident list displays a gunshot detection as a Gunshot Detection Incident and includes key details such as time and location.
    • Incidents are displayed on the map with a dedicated icon, including a corresponding incident card. Pilots can filter by Gunshot Detection to view only these incidents.

Transit Destination AR Marker Pilots can now view the transit destination as a colored AR pillar from the camera view in-flight.

    • AR marker is visible with Fly Here Now, missions, and manual navigation
    • Improves visual orientation and makes it easier to confirm where the drone is headed

Global Drone Deconfliction Global drone deconfliction is now available on all online Skydio drones.

This prevents connected Skydio drones from colliding with other connected Skydio drones.

Interrupt and Resume Missions Across Flights Platform: Dock for X10, Controllers/X10 Pilots and remote pilots can now interrupt pre-planned missions without losing mission progress.

Pilots can take The following on-demand actions while a mission is paused:

    • Initiate a fly to point mission
    • Conduct a manual flight
    • Initiate subject tracking

Following an interruption, pilot can resume the original mission By clicking Resume in Remote Flight Deck/Flight Deck.

This is especially useful for scheduled or longer Dock operations that span multiple flights or battery cycles.

When a mission is interrupted (e.g., low battery), it is marked as Interrupted in Skydio Cloud with progress and status details.

Pilots select Resume to easily continue the mission from the last uncompleted step.

    • Completed portions are automatically skipped
    • Pre-flight checks run before resuming to validate conditions and vehicle readiness
    • Missions can be resumed on a different compatible drone when needed
    • Results from resumed flights remain grouped together for easier review in Skydio Cloud

    See it in action:

    Fly Here Now Speed Control

    Platforms: Controllers/X10

Pilots can now adjust how fast the drone travels during Fly To Point actions. The selected speed is saved and applied to all fly-to-point actions.

    • By default, the speed is the maximum 45 mph (20 m/s)
    • Set the speed between 1 mph - 45 mph (0.5 m/s - 20 m/s)
    • Set via Global Settings → Flight Controls → Limits

Configure Standoff Distance for Incident Response

    Platforms: Controllers/X10

Pilots can now set a Standoff Distance when responding to an Incident so the drone stops short of the final destination instead of flying directly overhead. Configure the distance between 0 and 1,000 ft (0 - 304 m) to help maintain safer positioning.

    • By default, the distance is 0 ft (OFF)
    • Go to Global Settings → Flight Controls → Limits to set standoff distance

    RTK Waypoint Navigation

    Platform: Dock for X10, Controllers/X10

X10s with an RTK attachment and assigned profile that receive a fix status will now navigate to waypoints at RTK-level precision.

Updated Warnings for Low Battery Return and Landing

    Platform: Dock for X10, Controllers/X10

Pilots and remote pilots are now prompted when the vehicle battery reaches critical levels. Pilots have a 5 second window to respond and cancel before the vehicle automatically returns or lands. This allows pilots to complete a short maneuver or take control before the drone acts autonomously.

Previously, returns or landings began immediately after a warning.

    • The previous setting for Automatic Return vs. Notification has been removed
    • Pilots will see a countdown When the battery is low:
    • Low battery return can be canceled during the prompt
    • Critical battery cannot be canceled once initiated

Simplified Channel Selection with DFS Indicators

    Platform: Dock for X10, Controllers/X10, R10

Channel selection has been streamlined to allow pilots to more quickly select their desired wifi channel. The channel selection refactor consolidates all legal available channels into a single list, removing the need to choose a band before selecting a channel.

    • Update Skydio X10
    • Follow your organization’s maintenance log update procedure

Read How to update Skydio X10 for step-by-step instructions. [/accordion] Action Required: Parachute Compatibility Update

Warning: Your Skydio X10 or Dock for X10 Flight System must be updated to the listed version (or later) before operating with Parachute installed.

Connecting a Parachute to a prior version of the Battin software may permanently render the Parachute inoperable, requiring hardware replacement.

This applies to all Skydio X10 system configurations, both Dock-based and controller-based systems.

If the Parachute is rendered inoperable, a critical error is displayed on the X10 Controller and in Skydio Cloud, and Parachute functionality is unavailable.

Failure to follow this guidance may increase the risk of serious bodily injury and/or property damage.

Prior to operating or performing maintenance, review the safety information at skydio.com/safety.

This release includes a fix that addresses Parachute Attachment compatibility for controller-flown systems and prevents issues during initial setup.

    • Resolves an issue where Parachute becomes unusable when connected to a drone running an earlier version Battin software.

Icing Detection Alerts on X10 Controllers Cold, wet conditions can cause ice to form on rotor blades, reducing lift and flight stability.

Vehicle Icing Detection introduces a critical new safety feature that helps prevent incidents during cold and wet conditions by automatically identifying early signs of icing and alerting you before performance is affected.

For example, the drone detects icing during an automated mission while the remote operator is unaware of local moisture conditions.

The prompt enables early corrective action before flight control degradation occurs.

    • Continuously monitors flight performance and detects reduced lift or increased drag that may indicate ice buildup
    • Icing alerts may appear in temperatures up to 46°F (8°C)

The following release is available for both Skydio X10 and Skydio X10D.

Critical Update: Mitigated Power Loss During Flight Issue

Note: Flight will be blocked with batteries that have not been updated.

We highly recommend updating your entire fleet at once to ensure safe, uninterrupted flight with all batteries.

We also recommend that fleet managers and operators perform this software update across all batteries in one batch ahead of time in the office, as opposed to in the field, before any critical operations.

This release includes a mitigation for the rare occurrence of power loss during flight, outlined in a Notice to Operators (NTO) from January 31, 2025. The issue was caused by an uncommanded battery reset due to a communication fault within the battery’s management system.

    • Mitigates the power loss issue by addressing the communication fault within the battery’s management unit
    • Requires updates to Skydio X10/X10D, the X10 controller, and all X10 batteries
    • Batteries must be updated before flight after the drone and controller have been updated
    • Flights will be blocked with batteries that have not been updated
    • Updates to batteries will occur automatically when each battery is inserted into the drone
    • Once you perform the one-time battery update, you will be able to continue flying with that battery
    • Each battery should take approximately 30 to 60 seconds to update
    • Each battery must be updated individually — we recommend updating your entire fleet in one batch to avoid disruptions during field operations
    • Preflight Checks — Continue to perform standard preflight inspections and adhere to best practices to minimize ground risk

    How to update your batteries

Step 1 - Update your X10 Controller, followed by your Skydio X10 in accordance with normal update workflows

    • Skydio X10 update instructions
    • Skydio X10D update instructions

Step 2 - Insert a battery into the updated drone and power it on

Step 3 - You will see a notification on the Gate Screen as the battery begins automatically updating (this process should take 30 to 60 seconds)

Note: The battery update begins as soon as the drone powers on, meaning it may complete before the update notification appears on the X10 Controller. If the controller and drone have been updated, but the above screen does not appear, you can assume the battery update is complete.

Step 4 - When the update completes, power off the drone and remove the battery

Step 5 - Insert the next battery

Step 6 - Repeat this process until you have successfully updated all batteries

After updating, you will be able to check the version of individual batteries in Skydio Cloud. Updated batteries will display firmware version 2.0.2:

    • Batteries must be claimed in Skydio Cloud to view the current version
    • It may take 24-48 hours for the updated version to appear
    • Navigate to Settings > Devices > Batteries

Read Getting Started with the Skydio X10 RTK/PPK attachment and How to process RTK/PPK data for further guidance.

Note: Use of the RTK/PPK attachment is not yet supported with Skydio X10D, Connect 5G or Remote Flight Deck.

    Known Issues

    • While Trimble Business Center (version 2024.10) and DroneDeploy (version 2.604.0) support processing Skydio X10 Map Captures with RTK/PPK, corrections may result in geolocation errors that are larger than expected. Fixes from both platforms are expected in their future releases.

    •

    • Please monitor the support resources of Trimble Business Center and DroneDeploy for updates on this issue.
    • Uploading Support Logs does not automatically upload RTK/PPK-specific data. When reaching out to Customer Support, you will need to copy files from the Media SD card and upload them to a file sharing service, such as Google Drive, for investigations. This may be needed for debugging PPK flights across all customers, and RTK flights for customers without Media Sync.
    • Terrain Following is unavailable in this beta software, meaning reconstruction results may not be optimal for areas with large terrain elevation changes.

    Map Capture Updates

Added a new setting toggle called Diagonal. When enabled, X10 will fly a diagonal path at the end of the scan to capture additional photos through the center of the scan area.

    • The sensor package angle is set to 60° by default (Gimbal Pitch Down)
    • Diagonal Overlap set to 85% by default

    Skydio X10 Spotlight Attachment

The Skydio X10 spotlight attachment is a powerful tool designed to shine light over a targeted area to focus on specific points of interest when flying at night or in low-light conditions.

    • Recognize person from up to 500 ft (152 meters) away
    • Install on the right or left attachment bay and set the angle for your spotlight prior to launch
    • Toggle your spotlight on or off inside Skydio Flight Deck

For more information, visit: Getting started with the X10 spotlight attachment

    NightSense (Beta)

Skydio NightSense attachments provide bright visible or infrared 360° illumination, unlocking Skydio visual navigation and obstacle avoidance when flying at night and in low-light conditions.

Note: Skydio is offering pilots the opportunity to use and provide feedback on this Beta feature.

    • Skydio NightSense attachments are available in Visual light and Infrared (IR) light variants
    • Install your attachments on the top and bottom attachment bays of your drone
    • Turn NightSense on or off through the Quick Actions in Skydio Flight Deck

For more information, visit: Getting started with NightSense for Skydio X10

Note: NightSense is not compatible with Skydio 3D Scan.

    Low Light Flight Environment

    • Use Standard (default) for normal daytime and Low Light at night and in dim environments
    • The Low Light selection replaces the GPS Only toggle. Low Light flight mode will use vision navigation if there is any ambient light; however, GPS will remain the primary navigation system. If NightSense is on, X10 will use vision navigation.
    • With the introduction of Standard and Low Light modes, we’ve updated our guidance for flying at night and in precipitation:

Flying at night Select Low Light. Calibrate if prompted (not required with NightSense).

Flying in precipitation (during the day) Select Standard. Disable obstacle avoidance via the quick action or the settings menu, and only fly with a strong GPS signal.

Flying in precipitation (at night) Select Low Light. Disable obstacle avoidance, disable NightSense (if you have NightSense attachments installed), and only fly with a strong GPS signal.

    Action Wheel

The new Action Wheel is available for your controller D-pad, allowing you to quickly preview and select functions in flight.

    • Navigate to Global Settings > Flight Controls > Controls to assign the up, left, and right actions on the D-pad
    • Hold the back button on the controller to bring up the Action Wheel menu. While holding the back button, press the D-pad up, left, or right to execute that function

Note: When using the Action Wheel, the down option on the D-pad now locks the controller screen, which is useful in precipitation or for preventing accidental screen inputs.

This is a change from previous behavior, where you would hold down the Back button and D-pad for 5 seconds to lock and unlock the screen.

    Ground Avoidance

Skydio X10 now uses the Time of Flight sensor to detect the ground/landing surface and slow the drone's descent before it makes contact with the ground, even when obstacle avoidance is disabled.

Note: This feature is not designed for active terrain avoidance when flying laterally. Be sure to enable standard, close, or minimal obstacle avoidance to set a reliable obstacle avoidance margin around your drone.

    ENHANCEMENTS

    Free Look During Waypoint Missions

You may now adjust yaw and pitch to point the camera at a point of interest while X10 traverses to a waypoint.

    • Use your controller joystick and wheel to adjust yaw and pitch while X10 is flying to a waypoint
    • Select Exit Free Look to snap back to the heading and gimbal angle selected during your mission setup

    Default Stick Sensitivity Changes

    • Default settings for Roll, Pitch, and Throttle have increased
    • Roll and Pitch are now set to 35%
    • Throttle is now set to 100%

Note: These settings will NOT automatically update if you are an existing user. Select the Reset button under Flight Control Sensitivity settings or factory reset your drone to reset to these new defaults.

    Return Type Has Been Removed

    • Previously, you would select Vision or GPS as your return type
    • Now, X10 will automatically return using whichever navigation system is better at the time of return

Note: If flying in Low Light Environments, we recommend monitoring and maintaining strong GPS health during your flight.

Updated Obstacle Avoidance Margins and Speed

    • Standard Obstacle Avoidance is now flatter on the Z axis or shaped more like a pancake and less like a bubble. The margins remain the same, but this is a more accurate margin shaped around the form factor of your drone.
    • Close obstacle avoidance radius has been reduced from 8 inches (21 cm) to 6 inches (15 cm)
    • Disabling obstacle avoidance will now allow you to fly up to 45 mph (20 m/s). Previously this speed was only achievable when in GPS Only mode.

DFS Connection Persists Across Flights and Reboots

    • Previously, if you selected DFS (Dynamic Frequency Selection) as your radio Band, this selection would not persist across flights or drone reboots
    • Now, if you select DFS as your Band, this selection will not change unless you manually select a different option

    ENHANCEMENTS

Improved Video Performance Using the Vehicle 5G Cellular Connection

    • A less conservative video bitrate selection algorithm increases video quality when using the Vehicle 5G Cellular connection.

Info: Applies to flights over 5G cellular (via X10 Controller or Remote Flight Deck) as well as Live Streaming (active anytime Vehicle 5G Cellular is toggled-on).

    • The video stream that originates at the X10 vehicle has been split (one sent over Vehicle 5G Cellular and the other sent to the X10 Controller) such that each stream is now optimized for its respective connection quality, ensuring the best quality video for both the pilot (using X10 Controller or Remote Flight Deck and remote viewers of the live stream).
    • New Vehicle Data Throttle toggle (Global Settings > Radio) helps reduce instances of lost connection or high video latency when flying in locations with poor cellular coverage.

Info: Enable this toggle if you’re experiencing frequent lost connections or high video latency when Vehicle 5G Cellular is enabled.

Live Stream Quality Preference Selector Defaults to Pilot

Quality Preference Selector now defaults to “Pilot” when Live Streaming via X10 Controller data connection, meaning:

    • Vehicle 5G Cellular: toggled OFF
    • Controller is connected to the internet either via WiFi or Cellular (preferred)
    • Live Stream: active

Improved Visibility into Vision and GPS Health

New positioning system health indicator tells the operator which positioning system Skydio X10 is actively using and its overall health

    • VIO - Visual Inertial Odometry. This is the visual navigation system of the drone.
    • GPS - Global Positioning System

If both GPS and the drone’s vision navigation system (VIO) become unreliable, Skydio X10 will enter Attitude Mode

    Attitude Mode

    Improvements

    • If VIO and GPS become unreliable, Skydio X10 enters Attitude Mode, a mode of flying that relies on the drone barometer to maintain altitude.
    • Attitude Mode controls are now much smoother
    • This mode has previously been referred to as a “Pilot-assisted E-Landing,” because the drone automatically lands if there are no joystick inputs for 5 seconds. A new toggle under Flight Controls > Landing allows you to disable this.

Improved Indicator for Track in Place

    • On-screen tracking indications now adjust to the scale of the target
    • Tracking bounding box is yellow with a black border

    All Landings are Now Cancellable

    • You now have the ability to cancel all landings associated with emergency states
    • Previously, if the drone initiated an automated landing due to low battery or similar state, you did not have the ability to cancel the landing
    • Now, if the drone begins landing automatically, you have the option to cancel the landing by selecting “Stop” and fly at your own risk

Warning: You may only choose to cancel an automated landing at your own sole risk—you are responsible for the potential loss of the drone and/or serious bodily harm and property damage.

Drone Status Lights During Software Updates

The lights on the drone now indicate the state of a software update when in progress.

    Yellow Solid Update initializing

Yellow Flashing Update progress status (25% per arm)

    ENHANCEMENTS

    Inflight Display Brightness Control

The X10 Controller display brightness is now adjustable while in flight.

Notifications Now on Left of Screen

Inflight notifications now appear in the upper-left corner of the Flight Deck interface.

Improved Overheating Behavior for X10 Controller

New thresholds and protocols have been implemented to notify the operator and prevent flight (or recommend landing) when the Skydio X10 Controller reaches extremely hot temperatures.

Previously, if the controller became too hot, it would still allow the drone to launch. If the controller then overheated in flight, it would shut down and lose connection to the drone, triggering the X10 Lost Connection behavior.

To mitigate overheating and reduce the risk of lost connection during flight, we’ve implemented the following protocols:

    • X10 Controller Temperature
    • Behavior

    ≥ 107°F (42°C)

“Controller Overheating” notification appears on screen. The controller screen will dim to protect itself and the user is recommended to move to a cooler location or shade the screen from the sun to continue operation.

    ≥ 113°F (45°C)

“Controller Temperature Critical” notification appears on screen. User is warned that the controller is too hot and will shut down if not cooled immediately. If the drone is grounded, launch is prevented.

    ≥ 122°F (50°C)

“Controller Shutdown Imminent” notification appears on screen. The controller will then shut down. If the drone is grounded, launch is prevented. If the drone is in flight and the controller shuts down, this will result in lost connection.

    FIXES and SMALL UPDATES

    • MGRS and UTM map coordinate systems are now available for all X10 users
    • New Reset option in the Controls Sensitivity menu to reset sensitivity settings to factory defaults
    • Selecting Reset in the Controls menu now rests all settings in the Controls menu to factory defaults
    • Focus options have been removed when viewing the thermal camera display, as this display does not support on-screen focus capabilities
    • Fix for intermittent controller software crashes
