What's in this update
Battin Release: Smarter Mapping, Safer Flights, and Easier Operations
This release brings a focused set of enhancements that improve mapping accuracy, inflight awareness, and data security — helping you fly with more confidence and manage your operations more efficiently.
- Skydio X10 Gen 2 and BYOP Support — Unlocks compatibility with the next-generation X10 hardware and the flexibility to use your own cellular plan, giving you more options for staying connected in the field
- Effective GSD – See more realistic resolution metrics during Map Capture, based on real-world camera performance — not just altitude or lens specs
- Photo Name Display – File names now appear in telemetry, making it easier to match images to field assets or inspection records
- Manual Focus Controls – New slider and focus area preview make it easier to dial in sharp, detailed shots — especially for utilities and infrastructure
- Wind Telemetry – Wind speed and direction are new options for X10 Controller telemetry, helping pilots adjust routes and manage battery use
- Improved Low Light Detection – Low Light mode now activates automatically when low light or nighttime conditions are detected
- Parachute Attachment Support (EAP) – Parachute now works for hand-flown flights, enabling safer Ops Over People beyond Dock deployments. (Hand landing not supported)
- Support Log Upload Enhancements – Clearer feedback and reliable transfer workflows
- “Release to Skydio” File Sharing – Customers can securely share selected flight data with Skydio Support and mark it as Non-CJIS when needed, maintaining compliance
- Non-Docked Encryption – Adds the ability to encrypt media and files through the use of Yubikeys
- Other Enhancements – Improved subject tracking

FEATURES
- Note: This update will be released gradually over the next few weeks. Release notes were updated on December 15, 2025 to improve clarity and formatting. No product behavior or content has changed since the original release.
- Support for Skydio X10 Gen 2 and Bring Your Own Cellular Plan (BYOP)
- This update introduces compatibility with the Skydio X10 Gen 2 drone—featuring enhanced cellular hardware—and unlocks BYOP capability for future controller-based X10 Gen 2 systems. Customers can insert their own SIM card to use a preferred cellular plan as support for this feature expands.
- Please refer to the Skydio X10 Gen 2 and Bring Your Own Cellular Plan articles on our Support site for more detailed information.
- Parachute Attachment Support with Non-docked Flight Systems (EAP)
- Skydio Parachute for X10 is an attachment built to enable compliant operations over people for Part 107 customers and to keep people on the ground safe in the extremely rare case where Skydio X10 flights are terminated outside of intentional landing.
- Spot problems before they escalate - Internal sensors proactively monitor flight conditions to detect anomalies and deploy Parachute if necessary
- Protect what matters automatically - In the event of a failure, the Parachute deploys autonomously to safeguard people and property
- Take action when you need to - Manual override option gives pilots the ability to deploy the Parachute on demand or disable it entirely
- Battery lock - Prevents battery separation during Parachute deployment for increased safety
Please read Getting started with Parachute for Skydio X10 for more detailed guidance about using this attachment.
Warning: Before launching, ensure the USB-C cable is fully seated in the port. A loose connection may come free during flight, potentially resulting in a crash or serious bodily injury.
Caution: Hand landing and hand launching is not supported on Parachute EAP software.
Hand landing may result in inadvertent Parachute deployment.
Introducing Effective GSD – A More Accurate Measure of Mapping Performance Map Capture now uses Effective Ground Sampling Distance (GSD), a real-world measure of mapping performance, rather than relying solely on theoretical calculations.
Unlike traditional GSD, which assumes perfect conditions, Effective GSD is based on real-world testing and accounts for factors such as camera performance, lens characteristics, and environmental conditions.
This gives you a more accurate understanding of the detail you can expect in your imagery, making mission planning and map evaluation more reliable.
Improved Manual Focus Camera Controls The manual focus interface on the X10 Controller has been redesigned to make fine adjustments faster and more precise.
New slider controls highlight the current focus area, helping you make quick, precise adjustments.
- Ideal for customers who need to make frequent micro-adjustments, such as utility transmission and distribution line inspectors
- Full Parameter Control – In manual mode, you can adjust EV, ISO, White Balance, Shutter Speed, and Focus directly from the controller
- Touch or D-Pad Navigation – Manual settings can be adjusted using either touchscreen inputs or the controller’s D-Pad for precision
Wind Speed and Direction Telemetry on X10 Controllers The X10 Controller now provides real-time telemetry for wind speed and direction relative to the heading of the drone.
This makes it easier to identify headwinds and tailwinds during flight, helping you better understand flight conditions and make informed decisions in the field.
- Know what you're flying into - Wind estimation indicators reveal in-air conditions that impact battery performance and flight speed
- Fly with confidence - Visual guida
