Privacy Policy
updatemystuff.com is built to collect as little personal data as possible. This page explains what we store, why, and what your rights are under the GDPR.
What we collect
- Account data (if you register): your email address, display name and notification preferences. Used solely to deliver the service — the firmware notifications you asked for.
- Subscriptions: which products or categories you follow, so we know what to notify you about.
Server logs and IP addresses
Like every website, our server keeps standard technical logs of the requests it receives, and — as with any server — those logs include your IP address, stored as it is rather than encrypted. We use them only to keep the site running securely and to investigate abuse or faults; we never use them to build a profile of you, and they are automatically rotated out after a short period.
Cookies
We use only strictly necessary cookies: a session cookie and a CSRF-protection token. No analytics cookies and no third-party tracking cookies. Because none of these require consent under the ePrivacy rules, there's no cookie banner to click.
Advertising
updatemystuff.com may show sponsored banners to help fund the service. They are served by us directly — there are no third-party ad networks, no cross-site tracking and no third-party advertising cookies. We count how often a banner is shown and clicked using our own first-party measurement, and clicks reach the advertiser through a redirect on our own domain. Ads are always marked "Sponsored". If you click one, the advertiser's own site will apply its own privacy policy.
What we don't do
- We don't sell or share your personal data with anyone.
- We don't profile you or track you across other sites.
- We don't email you beyond the notifications and account messages you've chosen.
Data retention and deletion
You can delete your account at any time. Deletion immediately anonymises your personal data: your email and name are removed and your subscriptions are deleted. Technical server logs rotate out on their own schedule, as described above.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, export and erase your personal data. Contact us through the contact form to exercise any of these rights.
