Automatic Low Light Camera Mode
Platforms: Controllers/X10, Dock for X10
X10 Drones now automatically toggle on Low Light mode at dusk, based on local sunset time.
- Low Light mode is automatically enabled Pre-Flight for any takeoff between civil dusk and civil dawn (sun 6° or more below the horizon).
- Recording mode does not change while the drone is flying, so a flight that begins before dusk is not interrupted.
- Pilots can still set the camera mode manually at any time from the camera settings.
- On any subsequent flight Pre-Flight where the camera is in Low Light mode and takeoff is during the day (civil dawn to civil dusk), the camera switches to Standard mode.
Note: Automatic switching requires a GPS fix. A drone flying without GPS keeps whichever camera mode it already has.

Skydio Dock version 46.122.40
This hotfix addresses an improvement to how the Dock software handles increased mechanical resistance in alignment fence-slides after Dock close-up.
Before this fix, with mechanical resistance present the Dock software would prevent the drone from landing safely in the Dock, even when it was still possible to safely land the drone.
The Dock software has been updated to allow for safe drone landing in these cases by permitting a wider tolerance for alignment fence position.

Intelligent Airspace Management Platform: Dock for X10 Geofencing and airspace protection have been redesigned to provide more flexible, predictable, and terrain-aware flight safety controls across both manual and autonomous operations.
- All geofence layers now use Above Ground Level (AGL) altitude references instead of altitude relative to the Launch Point. This creates more accurate boundaries across varied terrain and improves consistency between mission planning and in-flight behavior
- Organizations can now use AGL geofences to manage their FAA restrictions
- As part of this update, existing geofences will be automatically migrated to AGL-based limits
- Review all large or long geofences. After migration, a single AGL height is set for these (e.g., if a large geofence was set to a specific HAL, the new geofence is based on the highest point from above ground). This can result in taller geofences, which can become an issue for specific use cases.
- Review safe landing points. As a result of migration, organizations may be required to adjust the altitudes of their safe landing points to ensure those points are within the new Keep-In geofence.
- Adjust the height of Keep-In geofences. The migration set Keep-In to 400 feet; if the organization prefers to manage to a 200 foot COA, Skydio recommends to set this ~230 feet.
Multiple Airspace Protection Layers Pilots can now combine multiple airspace and obstacle datasets into a single layered protection system, including:
- Site Geofences
- FAA UAS Facility Maps
- Tall obstacles, such as buildings, trees and other pre-configured Pathfinder data
- User-Imported custom geofences and operator-defined obstacles
These layers work together with existing altitude limits and obstacle avoidance systems to define a single, consistent flyable space for both pilots and autonomous missions.
Note: Pathfinder obstacle and artifact datasets are currently available only in the United States and Canada. Layer Enforcement Modes UAS Facility, Sites, and Custom geofence layers can now be configured independently using three enforcement states:
- On: Fully enforced during all flight operations, including manual flight, Pathfinder flight, autonomous missions, and return behaviors
- Pathfinder Only: Used only for Pathfinder flights and returns. Manual flight and pre-planned mission flights remain unrestricted
- Off: The layer is ignored during flight operations
Geofence enforcement allows operators to apply Pathfinder obstacle data as a full-flight protection layer during manual flight, providing an additional safeguard alongside visual obstacle avoidance systems. To configure Layer Enforcement Modes pre-flight:
- In RFD, navigate to Settings > Airspace Manager.
- Select one of the available options (Tall Obstacles, UAS Facility, Site Geofences) to display settings for that geofence.
- Click the dropdown to select the enforcement state.
Info: Enforcement for Tall Obstacles is set to *Pathfinder* and cannot be changed. This is planned for a future release.
Tip: Skydio strongly recommends enabling geofence enforcement to keep drones safe even when visual obstacle avoidance is off.
In-Flight Geofence Control Remote Pilots can now change geofence enforcement states during flight when operational requirements change.
Remote Pilots can make changes to geofencing during flight by taking one of the following actions:
- Using the Obstacle Avoidance (OA) Quick Action
- Responding to an In-Flight Notification when drone encounters a geofence
- Right-clicking on the map and selecting the Geofence menu
Examples include:
- Temporarily disabling FAA UAS Facility Maps after receiving tower authorization
- Disabling a geofence layer during emergency response operations
- Adjusting obstacle enforcement dynamically as site conditions change
Changes apply immediately and are reflected across mission planning and active flight behavior.
Remote pilots can also toggle on map layers to see which geofences are available, and what buildings or other tall obstacles are in the Buildings layer.
Administrative Controls Organization Admins can lock specific geofence layers to prevent pilots from modifying them during flight.
For example:
- FAA airspace restrictions may remain operator-adjustable
- Building and obstacle protection layers can remain permanently enforced
This provides flexibility for operational decision-making while maintaining required safety boundaries. Additional Notes
- Geofence boundaries are visible on the map and can be shown or hidden to reduce visual clutter
- Clear alerts notify operators when missions or flight paths interact with restricted areas
- If terrain or dataset coverage is unavailable, the system will warn that enforcement may be limited
- If an autonomous mission cannot continue due to an enforced restriction, the mission will pause until resolved
See It In Action:
Global Drone Deconfliction
Global drone deconfliction is now available on all online Skydio drones, including controller-flown drones. Previously, drone deconfliction was only available for docked online drones in the same Site.
Refer to Configuring Sites in the Dock for X-10 Operator Manual for detailed information on drone deconfliction behavior.

Note: This update will be released gradually over the course of one week.
Info: Release notes have been updated to remove the Photo Name Display in Telemetry feature.
This was incorrectly listed as available for Remote Flight Deck (RFD), and this feature is not included in this release.
Introducing Effective GSD – A More Accurate Measure of Mapping Performance Map Capture now uses Effective Ground Sampling Distance (GSD), a real-world measure of mapping performance, rather than relying solely on theoretical calculations.
Unlike traditional GSD, which assumes perfect conditions, Effective GSD is based on real-world testing and accounts for factors such as camera performance, lens characteristics, and environmental conditions.
This gives you a more accurate understanding of the detail you can expect in your imagery, making mission planning and map evaluation more reliable.
Skydio Dock for X10 Support in Japan Skydio Dock for X10 is now available in Japan, expanding access to fully autonomous, remotely operated drone operations.
Through this release, organizations in Japan can deploy X10 with Dock for continuous, reliable missions such as infrastructure inspections, utilities, and emergency response.
Custom Layer: FAA Facility Maps Skydio Cloud includes updated FAA Facility Maps as an optional custom layer.
This allows you to view these maps directly alongside your mission planning environment, making it easier to account for airspace restrictions and authorization zones when preparing flights.
Smarter Low Light Detection Skydio X10 will combine low-light sensing with locale specific time-of-day checks to notify the Pilot and automatically switch into Low Light mode (including NightSense) at night to ensure reliable launches.
Users can turn off low-light mode if they prefer.
Additionally, improved exposure adjustments increase the reliability of Dock landings.
- With NightSense - If NightSense is attached, the system will automatically turn NightSense on so you do not lose obstacle avoidance capabilities
- Without NightSense - Obstacle avoidance will be disabled and you will receive a notification. You have the ability to re-enable obstacle avoidance, but you may reduce the chances of a successful launch in these conditions.
Caution: Remote Pilots can override this automatic action by turning off Low Light mode, though doing so in dim or night conditions is not recommended and may reduce flight performance.
New Security and CJIS Controls The following features strengthen data security and support CJIS compliance by ensuring flight media is always encrypted, properly managed across dock and controller workflows, and only shared with Skydio Support under your control.
Dock-Based Drone Encryption Before each flight, media is automatically encrypted with Dock-specific keys to protect captured data.
When the drone returns to its original Dock, encrypted media is securely decrypted and automatically uploaded to Skydio Cloud without requiring user action.
- If a drone lands outside its original Dock and remains flyable, it should only be relaunched if the intent is to return to that Dock. Media encrypted with dock-specific keys cannot be offloaded elsewhere, so continued flights may fill onboard storage and risk data loss.
Grant Skydio File Access Permissions You now have additional control over how and when to release flight media and logs to Skydio for support purposes.
In addition to the existing Upload Skydio Flight Support Log, you’ll see a new Release to Skydio option.
You remain in control of sensitive data, while still giving Skydio Support access to selected logs, media, and data files for troubleshooting.
- Available in multiple places across Skydio Cloud (Flight History via Flight System page, Flight Reports, Media sharing)
Other
Improvements
- Reduced Data Usage While Docked - When an X10 is idle in a Dock, it minimizes the amount of data sent to Skydio Cloud to reduce unnecessary data transfers, conserve bandwidth, and avoid extra data costs

Launch and Landing Video Workflow Improvement With this release, we’ve reduced the number of video files generated per Dock-based flight, simplifying media management (especially in Evidence.com) and reducing confusion while maintaining launching and landing reliability.
- In Battin 40.140.65 (released June 12, 2025), Skydio made improvements to Dock for X10 launching and landing reliability across the board in all environments and flight states. Part of these improvements involved changing all Dock for X10 launches and landings to a 4:3 aspect ratio video mode, increasing the drone’s vertical field of view to aid in its positioning and ensure we have the most reliable and safe Dock landings.
- However, as a result of this change, video footage for launching, landing, and flight was automatically segmented into multiple files, adding complexity to video media management.
You will now see:
- 1 color video (video ends right before the drone lands)
- 1 thermal video (covers full duration of the flight)
- 1 LRV (low-res video) (covers full duration of the flight)
Note: For updated information about Dock for X10 video files, visit our Support article: Understanding Dock for X10 Flight System Media Files. Media Encryption for Docked Drones Ensure sensitive footage is never exposed—even in the rare case that a drone is lost during a mission
- Dock-deployed drones automatically encrypt all media before launch and decrypt it only post-flight
- Protects media and telemetry data if a drone is lost or compromised during flight, ensuring drone data security
- Good for organizations with strict data security requirements
- Automated media sync remains fully supported
- The same dock that encrypted the drone must be used to decrypt the drone
- Uses FIPS 140-3 compliant encryption modules
Note: The drone encrypts the media card automatically before launch.
Media is decrypted securely upon landing in the original dock, enabling automated upload to Skydio Cloud without user interaction.
If the drone lands outside of the dock and is still flyable, only relaunch if the goal is to return to the original Dock.
Otherwise, the onboard storage may fill up—leading to potential data loss.
Note: Media encryption for Docked drones is currently only available for Dock-only organizations. Skydio Cloud orgs with mixed fleets (Dock-based and controller-based) do not currently support media encryption for Docked drones. Bug Fixes and Improvements Drone-to-drone Deconfliction
- Fixes an issue where an erroneous “Paused for Drone Traffic” message might display prior to launch
- Previously, the user would select Override or reboot the drone via Skydio Cloud to resolve this issue
- Now the user will no longer incorrectly see the “paused for drone traffic” prior to launch
- Reduces instances of drones landing outside of the dock due to a drone deconfliction
- If a drone (Drone A) is returning to Dock, but there is another drone (Drone B) within the vicinity, Drone B may automatically pause flight and block Drone A from returning to Dock.
- Previously, if Drone B did not move in time, Drone A would initiate a smart landing
- We will now wait a longer period of time (up to 10 min) for before initiating a smart landing for Drone A. This gives the blocking drone, Drone B, more time to move out of the way
- New prompt now shows when a drone is close to other drone(s) and has priority to move:
- “Nearby Drones Detected: Flying near other drones. Collision avoidance is active.”
- Previously, only the drones that did not have priority and were paused would get a notification
- Ensures the pilot with the priority drone is aware that they are blocking progress of another drone and may consider moving
Launch, Return, and Land
- A small adjustment was made to camera settings during Dock landing to increase landing reliability. The video will get darker during landing
- Resolves an issue where, with fully loaded attachments in high wind conditions, a drone may try to launch right after landing (and get blown away)
- Reduces the likelihood of an erroneous “unsafe launch space” message flashing for brief period of time before launch
Additional Fixes
- Fixes a rarely occurring issue where video feed instability may occur in some environments without a lot of visual context or texture (e.g. views with a lot of sky), as the drone may yaw left and right slightly after 2 seconds without user input
- Fixes an issue where Panoramas can have missing spots around the edge/corner
- Mitigates an issue where in some locations, the Dock for X10 setup flight fails due to bad GPS
- Fixes an issue where temperature sensors cause Dock to fail to manage battery temperature correctly.
Known Issues
- If the drone lands outside the Dock or if the charger fails to connect properly, a dismissible prompt will appear indicating that media storage may be limited. In this case, media and logs will remain encrypted until the vehicle lands in the Dock and establishes a proper charging connection

Skydio X10 drone firmware version Battin (40.141.6)
Skydio X10 External Radio firmware version Battin (40.141.6)
Skydio X10 Dock firmware version Battin (40.141.6)
Fixes
- Fixes an issue where a drone (Drone A) may be incorrectly blocked from landing when another drone (Drone B) in a neighboring Dock is in Inspection Mode. This issue only occurred in hive configurations with airspace deconfliction enabled. With this fix, if Drone B is undergoing inspection it will no longer prevent Drone A from landing.
- Fixes a rare issue where the Dock or External Radio would exhibit intermittent loss of connection to the internet, resulting in 10 seconds of lost connection to the drone and possibly triggering a lost connection return. This could occur even if the drone was primarily operating over cellular connectivity. Users should now experience fewer instances of lost connection caused by this issue.
- Fixes a very rare issue where users were blocked from returning home if Pathfinder was enabled. While estimating return time home close to the launch point, Pathfinder would very rarely encounter an unrecoverable error. With this fix, users will no longer be prevented from returning home when Pathfinder is enabled.
