Skydio X10D MH & SL Vehicle version 43.152.32
Skydio X10D MH & SL Controller version 46.46.49
ATO Approval Release Date 1 July 2026
ISR Manager Skydio ISR Manager, formerly Fleet Manager for offline drones, is designed for enterprise and defense organizations. It helps teams manage terrain data and software updates across their drone fleets while maintaining their preferred data-sharing controls.
- Replaces Fleet Manager for Offline Drones
- Adds Download Terrain Data feature
- Streamlines access to updates
Download Terrain Data from ISR Manager Terrain data regions are now available in the Skydio ISR Manager for download and loading onto the drone media SD card.
The X10D will automatically ingest the terrain data it needs from the continent-scale DTED dataset stored on the media SD card.
As it plans and executes missions, the aircraft checks its current position and route, loads the relevant DTED tiles, and maintains a rolling cache of nearby terrain.
X10D automatically imports DTED data within a 10 km radius of the launch site.
This provides sufficient terrain coverage for flights up to 10 km without requiring operators to manually manage terrain files.
It also helps prevent storage limitations or DTED coverage gaps during a mission.
Download regional terrain data sets from the ISR Manager.
Download the ZIP file for each required terrain data region.
Expand the downloaded ZIP file, then copy the folder it creates into the DTED folder on the vehicle SD card.
You can keep multiple region folders inside the DTED folder to organize your terrain data.
Info: Visit How to download terrain data from ISR Manager for detailed instructions.
TAK Integration on Skydio Flight Deck Skydio Flight Deck now supports native TAK workflows for X10D ISR operations.
Operators can send and receive CoT messages, display standard TAK symbology, share drone, controller, and crosshair positions, and work with TAK markers directly from the flight interface.
This turns TAK markers into actionable ISR points that operators can view, create, edit, share, watch, or fly to with standoff without leaving the Skydio flight experience.
For teams with established ATAK / UAS Tool workflows, unkiosked X10D controllers also include supported ATAK and UAS Tool components pre-installed.
This provides a separate ATAK-based flight path when the mission requires it, while preserving the native Skydio Flight Deck workflow.
TAK Markers and Shared Situational Awareness
Info: Visit How to use TAK Markers on Skydio X10D for detailed instructions. Share Drone and Controller Markers Operators can now share drone and controller markers to TAK from the TAK/CoT menu. Supported shared markers include:
- Vehicle position
- Controller position
- Crosshair position
Operators can customize drone and controller callsigns before sharing.
Operators can create TAK markers in several ways: Add TAK Marker at Crosshair: Operators can create a TAK marker at the current crosshair ground location using either a controller button mapping or the Add TAK Marker quick action.
Add TAK Marker at Coordinate: Operators can add TAK markers using Lat/Long, MGRS, or UTM coordinates.
The marker type must be selected before choosing Add at Coordinate.
Adding a TAK marker does not automatically move the map.
Operators can use the Center on coordinate button to verify the coordinate location before adding the marker.
This workflow is available before launch when a vehicle is connected.
If on-screen controls are obscured by the keyboard, operators can press the Enter key to proceed.
Add TAK Marker at Map Point: Operators can long-press on a map point, select the Add TAK Marker submenu, and choose a marker type.
This workflow requires terrain data for AR overlays.
Subject Tracking TAK Markers: Subject tracking can now publish TAK markers for tracked subjects.
Operators can configure whether tracked subjects are shared as all, selected, or none.
Subject tracking auto-markers start as Unknown.
Move and Edit TAK Markers: Operators can edit TAK markers created locally or received from the network.
This includes changing the marker callsign, type, and details.
Operators can also move a TAK marker by long-pressing the marker and dragging it to a new location.
TAK Marker Behavior Any TAK marker created in the Enterprise App / ISR Command is immediately shared on the network.
This provides no-friction sharing and differs from ATAK’s implementation.
Operators always select the marker type before creating a TAK marker, consistent with ATAK conventions.
Any TAK marker, whether created or received, can be edited.
The system supports markers:
- Friendly
- Hostile
- Neutral
- Unknown ground markers
- Any MIL-STD-2525C marker received from a third-party device.
ATAK and UAS Tool Support on Unkiosked Controllers The X10D controller comes ready to support your preferred mission workflow, with both the Skydio Enterprise App and the ATAK UAS Tool available directly from the home screen.
Skydio validates supported ATAK/UAS Tool versions against our aircraft compatibility matrix to help ensure reliable video, aircraft control, and mission data performance.
Allowing operators the flexibility to fly using the Skydio Flight Deck or ATAK/UAS Tool on the same hardware, without switching controllers or compromising mission readiness.
Watch and Standoff Autonomy Watch This release introduces new Watch capabilities for ISR workflows, enabling operators to keep the camera focused on mission-relevant markers or locations while continuing to fly the aircraft.
Together, these capabilities improve ISR workflows by separating camera-pointing intent from aircraft navigation.
Operators can keep sensors trained on important markers or locations while continuing autonomous flight, flying to standoff positions, or managing mission context from the map.
Watch controls camera pointing, not flight path

Skydio X10D MH version 43.147.56
Skydio X10D MH Controller version 44.79.19
Support for Microhard Rev H Microhard Radio Firmware Update - This release includes a firmware update for the Microhard Radio.
Vehicle and controller updates will take longer than usual during this firmware update installation.
Enhanced Situational Awareness Skydio Shadow: Subject Track and Follow - BETA Shadow enables your X10 to act like a true teammate, autonomously maintaining a consistent visual lock on people and vehicles, making it easier to track and capture critical details on moving subjects.
- Predictive reacquisition enables Shadow to reacquire tracking even when the subject is briefly hidden behind obstacles.
- Responsive following keeps the subject centered, maintaining distance and altitude while dynamically responding to the environment, avoiding obstacles, even while flying backwards.
- Clearer follow controls, including the option to automatically begin following after selecting a subject.
- Operate day or night by seamlessly transitioning between color and thermal sensors to track subjects at night or in low-visibility environments.
- Each tracked subject appears on the Map View, helping operators communicate position and assign coverage.
Shadow Track and Follow continues to provide two modes for tracking subjects: Track in Place Maintains a lock on a subject and keeps them framed in the camera, even through brief occlusions, by predicting their movement.
Follow When enabled during tracking, the drone automatically adjusts its position, speed, and heading to maintain visual contact as it moves with the subject.
Obstacle avoidance must be enabled to use Follow, allowing the drone to automatically pause if a collision risk is detected.
Note: Shadow cannot run simultaneously with VPS or 3D Scan due to system constraints.
Performance may be reduced in very low light conditions without NightSense.
Follow cannot be used when Obstacle Avoidance is off.
Follow only operates above approximately 60 feet AGL.
Below this altitude, the drone will maintain track in place rather than follow in motion.
Maximum speed for Follow is 45 mph (20 m/s).
Shadow: Track and Follow Best Practices To maintain reliable tracking performance and reduce the likelihood of interruptions or tracking loss, Pilots should review the best practices below during Shadow Track and Follow operations:
- Anticipate Obstructions
- Assess the subject’s likely path and identify buildings, vehicles, or other structures that may interfere with line-of-sight.
- Adjust the drone's position early to maintain an unobstructed view, which may require flying closer to the subject or repositioning laterally to avoid occlusion.
Utilize Zoom Capabilities If the subject is clearly visible in the camera feed without the operator straining to identify it, the tracking model will generally be able to detect and maintain the lock. Excessive distance or reliance on extremely small visual targets may reduce tracking performance.
Avoid Overhead Viewing Angles Subjects, particularly people, are more difficult for the system to identify or re-identify when viewed directly from above. Maintaining an oblique viewing angle improves tracking continuity and reduces the likelihood of subject confusion in complex environments.
Arrive on Scene Faster Faster Fly Here Now Flights with Obstacle Avoidance on X10 Controllers Fly Here Now transits on X10 Controllers will now reach 45 mph (20 m/s) without disabling obstacle avoidance.
Respond to incidents and cover distance faster while maintaining full obstacle detection and safety features.
- The drone will always fly at this maximum speed while executing a Fly Here Now mission
Note: At higher speeds, battery temperature may increase, meaning performance limits may automatically adjust to preserve flight safety and efficiency.
NightSense Power Optimization Strobing - Default OFF Night flights benefit from improved endurance through intelligent power management of the infrared (IR) NightSense modules.
The IR LEDs now strobe in sync with the navigation cameras rather than running continuously, reducing energy use while preserving full obstacle-avoidance performance.
- Reduces battery draw from IR illumination, extending mission duration by up to 5-7 minutes during night operations
- Maintains the same level of obstacle detection and visual navigation accuracy
- Disabled by default
Note: This optimization applies only to IR NightSense modules.
Visible NightSense behavior is unchanged.
Strobing occurs in infrared light and is not visible to the human eye.
Enhanced Flight Experience Flight Envelope Protection Flight Envelope Protection (FEP) introduces a new power management system that dynamically manages speed, thrust, and battery output to deliver a smoother, more predictable flight experience.
By optimizing available power in real time, even with a full set of attachments, FEP enables the drone to reach and maintain true top speeds more consistently across a wider range of conditions.
- Automatically manages power draw in cold temperatures, at high altitudes, or when carrying a full set of attachments, enabling more consistent achievement of top speeds while preventing brownouts or early landings
- Longer flight times - Increases flight times by 3-5 minutes due to faster returns and greater predictability
- On-station time - Provides 2-10 minutes of increased time on scene based on distance to scene and configuration
Note: Top speeds may be slightly impacted in extreme cold or with high loads.
No Hand-Wave Calibration Required for GPS Night Launches Launching at night with GPS-only no longer requires hand-wave calibration.
Pilots can launch directly from the ground, even in dark or low-light environments, without enabling NightSense or Low Light mode.
This allows for safer, more consistent launches in challenging environments.
Skydio X10 will use magnetometer-based heading esti

Skydio X10D MH Controller ATO version 39.257
Note: This software release is supported on Skydio X10D MH only.
SITUATIONAL AWARENESS
- Automatic Dependent Surveillance - Broadcast (ADS-B)
- Skydio X10 is equipped with an onboard ADS-B receiver, which detects ADS-B signals broadcast by nearby aircraft and notifies X10 operators via on-screen prompts. The X10 onboard ADS-B is receive-only and does not broadcast any ADS-B signals out.
- ADS-B alerts are now supported even in degraded navigation states such as GPS-denied or ATTI mode, enabling ADS-B operation in advanced ISR missions. Visual and audible notifications will alert the operator when an aircraft enters the set alert radius.
- Aircraft icon – Displays either a fixed-wing aircraft or rotorcraft, with the altitude relative to your drone. Select this icon to view more flight details (e.g., vertical/horizontal speed, ground distance).
- Visual notification – A message alert appears in the top right of the screen and displays Incoming Aircraft
- Audible alert (off by default) - When an aircraft enters your alert radius, the X10 Controller will play an audible alert. Select the speaker icon in the message box to mute the alert.
How to use ADS-B on the Skydio X10 Controller
Note: Configure ADS-B settings in the Global Settings Menu > Display > Air Traffic. Sound Menu You can use the new sound menu to set the volume for audible ADS-B and shutter sound notifications. The default volume for sound is set to 0 (silent). The slider adjusts the volume.
Note: Configure sound volume in the Global Settings Menu > Sound.
Slant Range in Crosshair Coordinates (DTED) Operators can now maintain awareness of range-to-target in camera views, with slant range distance.
The system displays the direct line-of-sight distance from the drone to the ground intercept point at the crosshairs, giving an immediate range to target.
This aids coordination with supporting units while providing a real-time range reference to help pilots maintain safe standoff distances.
- The vehicle must be within the DTED map area for the duration of the flight, for crosshair coordinates or slant range data to be reported.
- Crosshair coordinates must be enabled and available.
- The slant range will be displayed in meters or feet, depending on the unit of measurement selected.
How to use Crosshair Coordinates (DTED) on Skydio X10 / X10D New Battery Alerts A new set of controller battery notifications has been introduced:
- At 10%, you will receive a Controller Battery Low warning
- At 5%, a Controller Battery Critical alert appears with an audible tone
- If the controller powers off mid-flight, the drone will honor the Lost Connection settings
NAVIGATION
New Telemetry Options
- Wind Speed and Direction: The Flight Deck now features a telemetry option for displaying the current wind speed and an arrow indicating the wind direction relative to the drone’s heading. The arrow rotates as the drone turns, allowing the pilot to determine whether they are flying into a headwind, a tailwind, or a crosswind. This helps pilots assess flight characteristics and anticipate higher battery use during returns.
- Time Elapsed: Flight Deck now offers a telemetry option that displays the amount of time the drone has been in flight. A clock icon shows a running timer that starts at launch.
- Time Until Shutdown: A new telemetry option displays the estimated remaining flight time until the battery capacity reaches zero, represented with an hourglass icon. The value is an estimate only and can vary significantly with wind, flight mode, or payload conditions.
- Battery Temperature: Pilots can now view live battery temperature as a selectable telemetry item, displayed as a thermometer icon. The value is displayed in units (°C or °F) according to the controller settings. Understanding the battery temperature is especially important in cold conditions to monitor performance.
Understanding telemetry on Skydio X10D
Note: Select data to display in the telemetry bar in the Global Settings Menu> Display > Telemetry.
Range Limits Geofence Setting Range Limits allows for precise control over mission boundaries, improves safety, and satisfies key regulatory requirements.
Pilots define a maximum range (164 to 32,808 ft / 50 to 10,000 m) that the drone can fly from the controller using a slider.
- When the drone reaches the limit, it will stop and hover.
- The geofence is centered on the controller’s GPS position and moves with the pilot as long as the controller's GPS is valid.
- If the controller GPS is lost during flight, the geofence center point freezes at the last valid controller location.
- If the controller has never provided a valid GPS, the center point defaults to the launch location.
How to use Range Limits Geofence on Skydio X10D
Note: Select the range that the X10D vehicle can fly from the controller in the Global Settings Menu > Flight Controls > Limits > Toggle on/off > Maximum Range from 164 to 32,808 feet. Low Speed Mode Toggle on Low Speed Mode for a maximum flight speed of 3 m/s for safer operation around people.
Note: Toggle Low Speed Mode on/off in the Global Settings Menu > Flight Controls > Limits. 2.4 GHz Power

- If GPS and VIO navigation modes are unavailable, the drone will enter Attitude Mode
Launch in Smaller Spaces with Lower Clearance Requirements
Skydio X10D can launch in more confined environments, both indoors and outdoors, thanks to a reduced minimum overhead clearance requirement.
- Now only 6 ft 7 in (~2 m) is needed to launch
- Previously required 10 ft (3 m) of overhead space
- Enables launching from complex environments, such as dense forests, tight spaces, or covered areas
Note: Skydio X10 is capable of launching with as little as ~6'7" of vertical clearance.
However, this is intended for constrained environments and should not replace the standard 10 ft (3 m) recommended clearance in all directions.
Operating in tighter spaces may increase the risk of collision, serious bodily injury, or damage during launch.
Low Launch
Low Launch limits the launch height to 3 ft (1 m), ensuring the pilot has quicker flight control and allowing tactical users to maintain a lower profile.
- Select Global settings > Launch menu > Low Launch Toggle On/Off
- Supported with Skydio NightSense
- The setting persists across flights and power cycles
- If Obstacle Avoidance is disabled, Low Launch will not be available
- If Attitude Mode is enabled, Low Launch will not be available
Visual Navigation at Higher Altitudes
Skydio X10D now maintains stable Visual Navigation (VIO) at altitudes up to 984 ft (300 m) — a significant increase from the previous 164 ft (50 m) limit.
This enhances flexibility in GPS-denied environments, such as urban canyons or high-altitude tactical operations.
If GPS is lost, Skydio X10D maintains continuous Visual Navigation—even at high altitudes.
- Increased situational awareness with high-altitude perspectives in challenging GPS environments
- Operate reliably in cityscapes where GPS signals may be unreliable
- Maintain mission continuity even if GPS is lost
Note: High-altitude VIO is optimized for daylight.
When flying at night, Visual Navigation will work best in environments with street or building lights that the drone can reference for positioning.
VIO will degrade as you fly at higher altitudes, as there are fewer lights.
Monitor VIO and GPS health in the telemetry bar and adjust flights based on your environment.
Always follow the aviation regulations in your country and jurisdiction.
Disable GPS Navigation
Disabling GPS navigation allows for flight in GPS-denied environments or when GPS navigation is degraded.
- Enable preflight or during flight in the Sensing menu
- GPS can be toggled on in flight without requiring a reboot or re-initialization
- When GPS is toggled off, X10D switches to VIO or ATTI navigation
- Monitor real-time telemetry provided by the system to the MAVLink client
- Fly missions using MAVLink-defined waypoints without relying on GPS coordinates
- Default GPS On and the setting does not persist across flights and power cycles
Note: Features that use a map position, such as crosshair coordinates, are unavailable unless an Anchor Point is set.
Anchor Point for Visual Navigation
Navigate in GPS-denied environments by setting a reference position on a map, allowing the drone to fly, execute waypoints, and return home.
- Toggle off GPS Navigation
- Select the Map settings and Set Anchor Point
- Drag the map to place the anchor point at the estimated position of the drone
- Long press on a visible feature on the map (ensure the feature matches in the camera view) to set heading point
- Rotate the drone until the heading point appears in the camera view
- Slide the vertical marker left or right and align it precisely with the feature
- Adjust or relocalize the anchor point mid-mission if needed
Known Issues
After adjusting the heading alignment in the camera view, the heading alignment marker becomes unresponsive and can no longer be dragged. Cancel and return to the previous step, then re-enter the heading step. Complete all X10D movements and camera adjustments before setting the heading marker.
Attitude Mode Flight
Launch, fly, and land in Attitude Mode when GPS and VIO are unavailable, with the ability to transition between navigation modes as needed. Launch and fly in Attitude Mode when GPS is disabled and there is insufficient light for VIO.
- Select Global settings > Sensing menu > toggle Attitude Mode on
- Throttle down for 1 second to launch in Attitude Mode
- Hold down L2 button for temporary Attitude Mode
Note: Not supported on Skydio X10D Connect SL.
Heading Return
Your X10D returns using a compass to assign a heading by autonomously flying in an operator-defined direction when navigation and communication are lost.
- Select the Return menu > Lost Connections > Attitude Mod

Critical Update: Resolved Power Loss During Flight Issue
Note: Flight will be blocked with batteries that have not been updated.
We highly recommend updating your entire fleet at once to ensure safe, uninterrupted flight with all batteries.
We also recommend that fleet managers and operators perform this software update across all batteries in one batch ahead of time in the office, as opposed to in the field, before any critical operations.
This release includes a fix for the rare occurrence of power loss during flight, outlined in a Notice to Operators (NTO) from January 31, 2025. An uncommanded battery reset caused the issue due to a communication fault within the battery’s management system.
- Resolves the power loss issue by addressing the communication fault within the battery’s management unit
- Requires updates to Skydio X10D vehicle, controller, and batteries to apply the fix
- Batteries must be updated before flight after the drone and controller have been updated
- Flights will be blocked with batteries that have not been updated
- Updates to batteries will occur automatically when each battery is inserted into the drone
- Once you perform the one-time battery update, you will be able to continue flying with that battery
- Each battery should take approximately 30 to 60 seconds to update
- Each battery must be updated individually — we recommend updating your entire fleet in one batch to avoid disruptions during field operations
- Preflight Checks — Continue to perform standard preflight inspections and adhere to best practices to minimize ground risk
How to update your batteries
- Update your controller and vehicle. Read How to update your Skydio X10D for detailed update instructions.
- Insert a battery into the updated drone and power it on
- A notification will display on the Gate Screen as the battery begins automatically updating (this process should take 30 to 60 seconds)
- When the update is complete, power off the drone and remove the battery
- Insert the next battery
- Repeat this process until you have successfully updated all of the batteries in your fleet
Additional Fixes
Skydio X10D SL
- The controller failed to establish a connection to X10D when using Channel 144 (DFS)
- If the system selected Channel 144, the controller would not connect the next time it was powered on, requiring a reboot to restore connectivity
- Channel 144 has been removed from the available DFS channels to prevent this issue

Skydio X10D ATO Controller version 34.1.81
NEW
Skydio NightSense (Beta)
Skydio NightSense attachments provide bright visible or infrared 360° illumination, unlocking Skydio visual navigation and obstacle avoidance when flying at night and in low-light conditions.
Note: Skydio is allowing pilots to use and provide feedback on this Beta feature.
- Skydio NightSense attachments are available in Visual light and Infrared (IR) light variants
- Install your attachments on the top and bottom attachment bays of your drone
- Turn NightSense on or off through the Quick Actions in Skydio Flight Deck
For more information, visit: Getting started with NightSense for Skydio X10
Note: NightSense is not compatible with Skydio 3D Scan.
ATAK Multicast
Multicast will send data to multiple targeted receivers at the same time.
Cursor on Target (CoT) PLI telemetry from the X10D and the controller are shared to ATAK’s default multicast group, 239.2.3.1, and port 6969 when ATAK telemetry sharing is enabled, but no TAK Servers are enabled.
This allows multicast-enabled networks connected to the Skydio X10D controller to propagate drone telemetry across the network to multiple clients simultaneously.
Note: A known limitation of this feature requires the controller to be rebooted if a TAK Server is connected before multicast traffic is shared again.
Low Light Flight Environment
- Use Standard (default) for normal daytime and Low Light at night and in dim environments.
- The Low Light selection replaces the GPS Only toggle. Low Light flight mode will use vision. navigation if there is ambient light; however, GPS will remain the primary navigation system. If NightSense is on, X10 will use vision navigation.
- With the introduction of Standard and Low Light modes, we’ve updated our guidance for flying at night and in precipitation:
Flying at night Select Low Light. Calibrate if prompted (not required with NightSense).
Flying in precipitation (during the day) Select Standard. Disable obstacle avoidance via the quick action or the settings menu, and only fly with a strong GPS signal.
Flying in precipitation (at night) Select Low Light. Disable obstacle avoidance, disable NightSense (if you have NightSense attachments installed), and only fly with a strong GPS signal.
Action Wheel
The new Action Wheel is available for your controller's D-pad. It allows you to quickly preview and select functions in flight.
- Navigate to Global Settings > Flight Controls > Controls to assign the up, left, and right actions on the D-pad
- Hold the back button on the controller to bring up the Action Wheel menu. While holding the back button, press the D-pad up, left, or right to execute that function
Note: When using the Action Wheel, the down option on the D-pad now locks the controller screen, which is useful for precipitation or preventing accidental screen inputs.
This is a change from previous behavior, where you would hold down the Back button and D-pad for 5 seconds to lock and unlock the screen.
Ground Avoidance
Skydio X10 now uses the Time of Flight sensor to detect the ground/landing surface and slow the drone's descent before it makes contact with the ground, even when obstacle avoidance is disabled.
Note: This feature is not designed to avoid active terrain when flying laterally. Be sure to enable standard, close, or minimal obstacle avoidance to set a reliable obstacle avoidance margin around your drone.
ENHANCEMENTS
Free Look During Waypoint Missions
You may now adjust yaw and pitch to point the camera at a point of interest while X10 traverses to a waypoint.
- Use your controller joystick and wheel to adjust yaw and pitch while X10 is flying to a waypoint
- Select Exit Free Look to snap back to the heading and gimbal angle selected during your mission setup
Updated Skydio X10D Overheating Alerts and Behavior
- Improved the drone overheating alert model for better accuracy and cadence with updated user guidance
- Disables obstacle avoidance at high temperatures to reduce power draw and lower drone temperature. If the drone temperature drops back down during flight, obstacle avoidance will be re-enabled
Visit Best Practices for flying Skydio X10 on hot days for detailed information.
Note: Temperature alerts are based on internal drone components significantly higher than ambient temps.
Previous: Single alert when drone reaches critical temperatures.
Alert 1 - Land Now
Take immediate action to land
New series of three alerts:
Alert 1 - Drone is Heating Up
- Can be dismissed
- recommended to disable obstacle avoidance.
Alert 2 - OA disabled
- Obstacle avoidance may be re-enabled if the drone temperature drops during flight.
Alert 3 - Land NowTake immediate action to land.
FIXES & ADDITIONAL IMPROVEMENTS
