Intelligent Airspace Management Platform: Dock for X10 Geofencing and airspace protection have been redesigned to provide more flexible, predictable, and terrain-aware flight safety controls across both manual and autonomous operations.
- All geofence layers now use Above Ground Level (AGL) altitude references instead of altitude relative to the Launch Point. This creates more accurate boundaries across varied terrain and improves consistency between mission planning and in-flight behavior
- Organizations can now use AGL geofences to manage their FAA restrictions
- As part of this update, existing geofences will be automatically migrated to AGL-based limits
- Review all large or long geofences. After migration, a single AGL height is set for these (e.g., if a large geofence was set to a specific HAL, the new geofence is based on the highest point from above ground). This can result in taller geofences, which can become an issue for specific use cases.
- Review safe landing points. As a result of migration, organizations may be required to adjust the altitudes of their safe landing points to ensure those points are within the new Keep-In geofence.
- Adjust the height of Keep-In geofences. The migration set Keep-In to 400 feet; if the organization prefers to manage to a 200 foot COA, Skydio recommends to set this ~230 feet.
Multiple Airspace Protection Layers Pilots can now combine multiple airspace and obstacle datasets into a single layered protection system, including:
- Site Geofences
- FAA UAS Facility Maps
- Tall obstacles, such as buildings, trees and other pre-configured Pathfinder data
- User-Imported custom geofences and operator-defined obstacles
These layers work together with existing altitude limits and obstacle avoidance systems to define a single, consistent flyable space for both pilots and autonomous missions.
Note: Pathfinder obstacle and artifact datasets are currently available only in the United States and Canada. Layer Enforcement Modes UAS Facility, Sites, and Custom geofence layers can now be configured independently using three enforcement states:
- On: Fully enforced during all flight operations, including manual flight, Pathfinder flight, autonomous missions, and return behaviors
- Pathfinder Only: Used only for Pathfinder flights and returns. Manual flight and pre-planned mission flights remain unrestricted
- Off: The layer is ignored during flight operations
Geofence enforcement allows operators to apply Pathfinder obstacle data as a full-flight protection layer during manual flight, providing an additional safeguard alongside visual obstacle avoidance systems. To configure Layer Enforcement Modes pre-flight:
- In RFD, navigate to Settings > Airspace Manager.
- Select one of the available options (Tall Obstacles, UAS Facility, Site Geofences) to display settings for that geofence.
- Click the dropdown to select the enforcement state.
Info: Enforcement for Tall Obstacles is set to *Pathfinder* and cannot be changed. This is planned for a future release.
Tip: Skydio strongly recommends enabling geofence enforcement to keep drones safe even when visual obstacle avoidance is off.
In-Flight Geofence Control Remote Pilots can now change geofence enforcement states during flight when operational requirements change.
Remote Pilots can make changes to geofencing during flight by taking one of the following actions:
- Using the Obstacle Avoidance (OA) Quick Action
- Responding to an In-Flight Notification when drone encounters a geofence
- Right-clicking on the map and selecting the Geofence menu
Examples include:
- Temporarily disabling FAA UAS Facility Maps after receiving tower authorization
- Disabling a geofence layer during emergency response operations
- Adjusting obstacle enforcement dynamically as site conditions change
Changes apply immediately and are reflected across mission planning and active flight behavior.
Remote pilots can also toggle on map layers to see which geofences are available, and what buildings or other tall obstacles are in the Buildings layer.
Administrative Controls Organization Admins can lock specific geofence layers to prevent pilots from modifying them during flight.
For example:
- FAA airspace restrictions may remain operator-adjustable
- Building and obstacle protection layers can remain permanently enforced
This provides flexibility for operational decision-making while maintaining required safety boundaries. Additional Notes
- Geofence boundaries are visible on the map and can be shown or hidden to reduce visual clutter
- Clear alerts notify operators when missions or flight paths interact with restricted areas
- If terrain or dataset coverage is unavailable, the system will warn that enforcement may be limited
- If an autonomous mission cannot continue due to an enforced restriction, the mission will pause until resolved

Global Drone Deconfliction
Global drone deconfliction is now available on all online Skydio drones, including controller-flown drones. Previously, drone deconfliction was only available for docked online drones in the same Site.
Refer to Configuring Sites in the Dock for X-10 Operator Manual for detailed information on drone deconfliction behavior.
