Nikon, DJI and Blackmagic keep the pace steady in early August

The week in short

Camera and drone makers were busy between August 3 and 9: Nikon refreshed three bodies, DJI touched four different products, and Blackmagic pushed its post-production suite forward a notch. On top of that, a wave of new gear showed up on the radar — lights, a mic, two Leica zooms, and a handful of SG-image primes — alongside a much bigger addition: TASCAM and Zoom had their entire firmware histories loaded into the tracker, so expect some older-looking entries mixed in.

Notable updates

  • Nikon Z50II → 1.11, D780 → 1.21, D6 → 1.71 (Aug 5–6) — three different generations getting attention in the same window is a good sign Nikon's still actively maintaining older bodies like the D6 and D780 alongside the newer Z50II.
  • DJI Inspire 3 → 01.00.09.00 and DJI RC → 01.03.2500 (Aug 4) — paired updates for the aircraft and controller, worth grabbing together.
  • DJI Osmo Pocket 4 → 01.03.10.05 (Aug 4) — steady incremental maintenance for the pocket gimbal camera.
  • Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve / Resolve Studio / Fusion Studio → 21.0.4 (Aug 5) — all three apps bumped in lockstep, plus Blackmagic Converters → 12.3 (Aug 3) for the hardware side.
  • AJA HELO Plus Software → 2.1.6 (Aug 4) — encoder software refresh for anyone running HELO Plus units.
  • Insta360 X5 → 1.11.10 (Aug 3) — quiet but timely update for one of the more popular 360 cameras out there.
  • Godox GM6S Pro → 0.0.84 and GM55 → 0.0.10 (Aug 7) — both launched as new products and already got their first firmware within the same week.
  • Nanlite PavoTube II 6XR → 1.04.01 and Nanlux Matrix → 1.02.01 / 1.03.03 (Aug 7) — the Matrix in particular jumped two versions the same day, suggesting a quick follow-up fix right after the initial release.

Everything else

New arrivals on the tracker:

Catalog backfill: TASCAM and Zoom's complete firmware histories — going back well over a decade for some interfaces and recorders — got added this week. These aren't new releases, just newly tracked history, so don't be surprised seeing dates from 2009 pop up.

Withdrawn: the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FH22's old 1.2 firmware has been pulled from availability.
